I love your article. It teaches a lot about gradients. Still could not stop myself from few words of warning:

While gradients have definitely made a comeback, they are dangerous toys to play with and should be handled with a lot of care and subtlety.

This is especially true for content focused apps where you don't have complete control over the content. We built what would be an extremely cool app if filled with just our mockup content only to later realize that the platform was not as good once the real content was on it.

It still needs a redesign once we're done with other basics.
